Document Setup

File > Document Settings

Use the Document Setup command to set up a file’s basic characteristics (units, scale, drawing area, and grid) as well as define the title block border settings.

To set up a file with the Document Setup command:

Select the command.

The Document Setup dialog box opens. Set the parameters for the drawing. See Concept: Setting up the drawing for more information on units, scale, drawing grids, and print area.

Drawing Units

Click Edit to open the Units dialog box; specify the global unit settings for the project

Layer Scale

Click Edit to open the Layer Scale dialog box. Specify the default layer scale for the project. This scale will be used for all floor design layers (Mod-Floor-#) and associated design layers such as Mod-Slab.

Drawing Area

Click Edit to open the Page Setup dialog box; specify the drawing’s printable area

Drawing Grids

Click Edit to open the Grid Settings dialog box; specify the reference and snap grid settings as described in Snapping to the grid

Georeferencing

If this document will use georeferencing, click Edit to open the Document Georeferencing dialog box. Specify the default georeferencing information for all design layers; see GIS and georeferencing.

Use title block border

Creates a title block border using common formats (see Creating title block borders)

Title Block Border Selection

Opens the Title Block Border Selection dialog box to select the title block border style from the Resource Selector. For an unstyled title block border or a style with the drawing size set By Instance, specify either the Sheet Size or a custom Width and Height.

Use title block border settings when sheets are created 

Applies the title block border settings to the sheet layers when the Create Standard Viewports command is selected (Vectorworks Architect required)

Create title block border using current settings on layer 

Places the selected title block border on the selected layer immediately

Select the Document Setup command again to re-adjust a sheet border if the paper size has changed.
